Why CEPO?
Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO)

Community Empowerment for Progress Organization was founded by Mr. Edmund Yakani Berizilious and colleagues in Khartoum in 2000 during their work on the protection of IDP’s rights in the camps around Khartoum as first-year university students. They were driven by the deplorable state of human rights of IDPs’ such as poor living conditions (Shelter, Water, Education, and Health Care), Violation of Women’s and Children’s rights, and limited civic and political space in Khartoum, Sudan.

Secondly, Mr. Edmund and colleagues discovered that the bridge between theory and practice in the university was important as such the need to create an Institution that would act as a basis for community empowerment and transformation.
