Juba (19 Sept 2025)-Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), in partnership with UN Women, will be implementing an initiative titled “Women Action for Peace Dialogue (WAPD)” from September to December 2025. This three-month program aims to foster inclusive dialogue and strengthen women’s roles in peacebuilding efforts across South Sudan.

The initiative will officially launch on 30th September 2025 in Juba, marking the beginning of a series of engagements designed to empower women as key agents of peace and social transformation.

WAPD is aiming at empowering 21 women and female youth in an inclusive manner in the field of mediation in South Sudan. The ultimate goal of the WAPD is ensure that Women mediators are empowered and effectively drive mediation process across for securing successful political transitional process from violence to peace

Women Mediators is part of CEPO strategy for home-grown approach for resolving the on-going political stalemate in the country. Women played a very influential role in political transitional process in the modern history of South Sudan. Currently, all attempts that were tried failed without resolving the political stalemate the country is facing now, and it is very risk political stalemate on the fate of political stability for the country

The 21 Women Mediators were drawn from political parties, academia, business community, faith based, youth, media, women with disability and civil society with full commitment for national diversity. The women mediators will be entrusted to rollout the mediation actions immediately from October, 2025. There will be events of exposing these trained 21 South Sudan Women Mediators to other global women in the same filed of mediation

The scope of the mediation will focus on country political transitional process through R-ARCSS and handling the ongoing deadly armed community violence among our communities. The initiative will reach out to other partners that are interested to see women mediators play an effective and meaningful transformation of our society from violence to peace.
