Report: On 24 Sept 2025-A growing number of female journalists in South Sudan are abandoning their careers due to persistent sexual harassment within media institutions, according to media leaders and advocacy groups. The abuse, often perpetrated by senior editors and managers, remains largely unreported, creating a culture of silence and impunity that threatens the future of women in journalism. Despite the existence of workplace policies aimed at protecting employees, female journalists continue to face harassment behind the scenes—often from those entrusted with mentoring and guiding them. Fear of retaliation, job loss, and public shame has kept many victims from speaking out, leading to what experts describe as a hidden epidemic.
