30 dead in cattle raiding upsurge in Nyirol, Ayod

On 5 Oct, 2025-Renewed cattle rustling has erupted between the Gawar Buer community of Ayod County and their Lou Nuer neighbors from Nyirol County. In a recent incident, armed youth from Pading Payam in Nyirol reportedly launched an attack on a cattle camp in Ayod, resulting in the deaths of 30 individuals and injuries to 10 others. A significant number of cattle were raided during the assault. Fighting remains ongoing in the surrounding bush areas, with Lou Nuer youth reportedly engaged in continued hostilities.
