14 soldiers killed as South Sudan’s peace forces clash in Abyei
Incident Description
On 4 November 2025, deadly clashes in Athony village near Abyei Box left 14 soldiers dead and at least 14 others wounded after a confrontation between officers of South Sudan’s unified forces escalated over a personal dispute involving a love triangle. the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Army-in-Opposition (SPLA-IO), both integrated into the unified VIP Protection Force.
