On 10 January 2026, Journalist Chuol Mut Teny was arrested after hosting a call-in program during which one caller sent greetings to an SPLA-IO general, Banypiny Gatlel. The journalist was detained for six hours. The incident reflects ongoing press freedom challenges in South Sudan.
