Communal fighting 7 killed, 15 wounded in Rumbek North

On 20 January 2026, at least seven people were killed and 15 others wounded in clashes between the Manuer and Gak sections of the Pakam community in Rumbek North County. The fighting erupted in Maper, following the killing of a young motorcycle taxi rider on Monday. The violence was part of a cycle of revenge attacks.
