On January 31, 2026: At least 10 people were killed and one was injured in a series of cattle raids in Jonglei state’s Duk County over two days. The attack in Pajut town resulted in one herder killed and 503 cattle stolen. During the pursuit to recover these animals, two additional youths were killed and one injured. On 1 February 2026, A second larger raid occurred on the outskirts of Duk Padiet town, where attackers targeted cattle grazing in fields. Seven youths were killed during this incident, and between 1,000 and 1,500 cattle were taken and Livestock losses: Between 1,500-2,000 cattle were stolen across both incidents the attackers were suspected to be armed youths from the neighbouring Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).
