Lakes State, South Sudan — The newly elected leadership of the Civil Society Organization Network in Lakes State has officially been inaugurated in a ceremony supported by the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO).
The inauguration brought together more than 100 invited participants, including representatives from the state government, community leaders, civil society organizations (CSOs), international non-governmental organizations (INGOs), United Nations agencies, and other stakeholders.
The ceremony marked an important transition for the Civil Society Organization Network, with the newly elected leadership formally assuming responsibility for coordinating and representing the network’s activities and engagements.
A key highlight of the event was the swearing-in of the newly elected leadership, during which the leaders pledged to carry out their responsibilities in accordance with the principles and objectives of the network.
The event was also marked by the official handover of the Network’s assets to the new leadership, symbolizing the formal transfer of responsibilities and resources to support the network’s continued operations.
Speaking during the ceremony, participants emphasized the importance of strong coordination, accountability, inclusiveness, and constructive engagement between civil society and government in addressing the needs and concerns of communities in Lakes State.
CEPO’s support for the inauguration reflects its commitment to strengthening civil society networks and promoting meaningful participation of civil society organizations in local governance, community development, peacebuilding, and advocacy.
The newly inaugurated leadership is expected to build on the work of the network by strengthening coordination among CSOs, expanding collaboration with government and development partners, and ensuring that community concerns are effectively represented.
