Trader Killed Along Maridi Road, Two Youths Killed in Retaliatory Attack

On 9 July 2026, Independence Day, a trader traveling to Goli, about 20 miles from Yei, to buy cattle from Ambororo reportedly came under attack by unknown armed men. The incident occurred at Ameda Stream, around 17 miles along the Maridi Road, where the trader was killed. After authorities were informed, they reportedly went to the area and brought the body back home. On 10 July 2026, the trader’s relatives and friends reportedly traveled by boda-bodas to Tokori village in retaliation. During the attack, two youths were reportedly killed.
