“No Return to War”
CEPO aims to empower citizens to demand political accountability.

South Sudan has been undergoing political armed deadly violence since 2013 without sustainable solutions due to high deficit in trust and confidence among the conflicting political and military leaders. Their differences have led some of them to orchestrate politically motivated deadly, and communal armed violence.
The main problem is that citizens are not strategically demanding political accountability from their respective political and military leaders to embrace peace and stability. Citizens are less empowered civically for driving home-grown consultative engagement for peace and stability to prevail. This situation made some leaders strike for impunity without any accountability
CEPO took a step to initiated citizens centered civic engagement that empowers them to consultatively, responsibility and proactively demand political accountability that focus on making peace and stability prevails. The citizens centered civic engagement is called Citizens Talks for Peace under our campaign of No Return to War.
The ‘Citizens Talks for Peace’ is a nationwide political accountability initiative that will bring citizens together to make peace happen and silence the guns. people-to-people talk for nurturing a culture of peace and non-violence. people to people dialogue to nurture a culture of peace and non-violence. This initiative will bring together all actors, national, regional, international, including UN agencies from 16th May, 2025 to 9th July, 2025. The initiative will continue throughout the year 2025 until peace and stability is realized in South Sudan.
Mr. Edmund Yakani Executive Director of CEPO, said it is time to consultatively undertake actions that bring citizens together in a non-violent manner. The Citizens’ talk for peace will be symbolized by the No Return to War Touch that will be moving from state to state for driving people-to-people dialogue for peace and stability.
The Citizens’ Talks for Peace will be carried out at the state level and involve non-partisan civic engagement by citizens for peace and stability.
