Death Toll from Coordinated Attack in Warrap State Rises to 72, 38 Others Wounded

On 26 Oct, 2026-Retaliatory attacks involving armed groups from Mayom County and communities in Alabek and Akop Payams have reportedly resulted in 72 deaths and 38 injuries. An unspecified number of cattle were also raided from Majak-Kou cattle camp. The attacks also saw the deliberate burning of the two main markets of Athieng-Puol and Rual-Malith, as well as several households in villages across Akop Payam.
