Incident Description

On 4 February 2026-Intercommunal violence between the Boor and Ajiek sections of the Rup Community erupted in Apet village, Malek Payam leaving six people dead and ten others injured. The clashes were triggered by a cycle of revenge killings that has persisted despite prolonged government mediation efforts. The communities were separated as part of a peace resolution, with the Boor section relocating to Rumbek East County with their cattle. However, the arrangement failed to prevent the latest outbreak of violence.
