Kapoeta East commissioner killed in disputed area

Incident Description

On 11 June 2026, Commissioner Stephen Lowosio Lomongin of Kapoeta East County was ambushed and killed while on an official visit to the disputed area of Kessengor, a territory claimed by both Eastern Equatoria State and the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA). he was killed by criminals influenced by the government of the Greater Pibor Administrative Area.
