Three women killed in an attack in Rumbek North County

On 4 January 2026, at least three women from Unity State were killed in Rumbek North County of neighboring Lakes State when they were traveling by boat from the capital, Juba, to Mayendit County in Unity State. The attackers are armed youths from Rumbek North County, and the killings were part of ongoing retaliatory violence between neighboring communities.
